Chivalry...?

Well, it has indeed been a few days.
None-the-less...

There has been an update on the status of the brain damaged woman that I ranted so angrily about a few posts back.

Wal-mart, apparently, has stepped back, and decided to let the woman keep the money that was paid in from the insurance company.

Yay!

The executive vice president of Wal-mart said that it was one of those times that others helped give another perspective on the situation. Wow.

Also, in the future Wal-mart plans modify its health care plan to "allow more discretion in individual cases".

Dandy.

I am however quite impressed by how quickly people responded to this story. There were many angry blog posts, and a few websites boycotting Wal-mart. If I were a pessimistic person (I am not of course), I would think that the Wal-mart executives would worry that they would lose more money by not letting the woman have the money, than were they to continue fighting for the small change. I suppose they would. They pissed off a lot of people.

It is a sad thought that Wally World let her have the money, not out of consideration for human life, but out of consideration for themselves.

Heaven forbid little Johnny not get a yacht for his eighth birthday!
